Important Information about your holiday cottage in Scotland

Cottage Details

The cottage descriptions and rents on this web site apply from the end of October 2010 to end of October 2011

It is constantly evolving, with new details being introduced to you as they become known to us. For example, new photographs of properties and up-to-date property details and property descriptions are being published on this web site on a regular basis.

Arrivals

Please do not arrive before 4pm on the first day of your cottage holiday — this gives each property owner sufficient time to prepare the property for your arrival. You should vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure, unless otherwise pre-arranged with the cleaner/keyholder, leaving it reasonably clean and tidy. If you arrive and find things are not as they should be, or something breaks down during your stay, contact the property owner, the keyholder or the local contact immediately, so that they can sort it out for you at the earliest opportunity. Their telephone numbers are on your travel directions.

NOTE— It is vital you telephone the property keyholder or property owner several days BEFORE setting off on your holiday so that you can confirm your arrival time, arrange for the collection of keys and discuss any other details like local shop hours and any special requirements you may have. The Hamster Cottages offices are closed Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and public holidays.

Pets

Permission must be sought through Hamster Cottages at the time of booking for any pets which you may wish to take with you on holiday. All pets must be kept under strict control and they must never be left alone in or near the holiday cottage. Animal hairs must be removed from carpets and furniture. Pets must not be allowed to soil the garden or grounds around the holiday cottage (remember that young children use the garden too!) and pets are not permitted into bedrooms or onto furniture.

Cleaning

You must leave the property in a reasonably clean and tidy condition. The property owner does not have much time to prepare it for the next visitors and your co-operation in this respect will be very much appreciated. Holidaymakers are liable to a surcharge if the property is not left in a reasonably clean and tidy condition.

Good Housekeeping Deposit

Most property owners require a Good Housekeeping Deposit, to be paid along with your balance payment. This will be refunded to you by the property owner (usually within two weeks of the end of your holiday).

Cancelled Bookings

You may be unfortunate enough to have to cancel your cottage holiday. Where this is the case, the rent paid for holidays which are cancelled before the start of the holiday and then successfully re-booked by us will be refunded, less a handling charge of £45 per week.
NOTE — if you must cancel your holiday, tell us immediately, so that we can make appropriate arrangements for you. We strongly advise that you make arrangements for your own holiday cancellation insurance.

Special Requirements

If a cot or any other special item is required please be sure to state this clearly on the booking request form. For example, a high chair can sometimes be provided if we can give the owner sufficient notice that one is required. *Please note that linen is NOT supplied for cots. Anyone who has restricted mobility, or any other special requirements, should contact us first to discuss their choice of property. We shall make every effort to match you to a suitable property for your holiday, so please discuss your particular needs with us and note them on your booking request form as well, including any relevant medical condition of any member of your party, e.g. asthma, allergies to house dust, animal hairs, phobias etc.
