Situated in a slightly elevated position by the shores of Loch Etive the views are quite stunning — imagine sitting up in bed in the morning and looking out at the fjord-like setting with mountain scenery reflected across the water. This peaceful little bay is well off the main road, but only a 25-minute walk from Taynuilt with its hotel, shops and a railway station.
The whole of the west coast is within easy travelling distance, including numerous ferries to the islands. Teenagers will enjoy the freedom of taking a train to Oban, where there are all modern facilities, while their parents can relax by the water or hire a boat from the owner and go fishing or exploring one of the most scenic sea lochs in Scotland.
Cyclists have miles of quiet country roads to explore. You can even use your host, who is a qualified summer mountain guide, to show you round the local mountains (booking essential). A perfect place to base yourself for a kayaking holiday due to the proximity of Loch Etive which is usually calm throughout the year. The river Awe (grade 3) is also close by for any river enthusiast.
