Property DescriptionMill Cottage, set in 25 acres of grounds, was converted about 60 years ago from original stone farm buildings used by the local miller and his family. It is now furnished in the style of a traditional country cottage whilst meeting all modern standards. The river Garpel (reputedly frequented by the poet Robert Burns) runs nearby and provides a good spot for trout fishing.
Wild life enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see red squirrels, woodpeckers, otters and herons as well as the numerous domesticated animals such as dogs, ducks, geese, hens, the grand-daughters of a rare breed mini-pig (she was a local television celebrity!) and ponies in close proximity. For this reason the cottage is not ideal for very young children who could find the animals daunting and for whom the river could be dangerous, but a great place for those wanting to experience country life.
The immediate surrounding area is a natural woodland garden with a delightful riverside walk where rhododendrons grow in profusion.
