Property description for Sea Otter Cottage, Wick NE07
Set in a stunning shoreline position with glorious sea views across Sinclair Bay towards Orkney this tastefully renovated stone-built foreshore cottage provides comfortable accommodation and all modern facilities, without losing any of its rural charm.
If you love the sea and tranquillity this is the place for you to sit in the evening quietly enjoying a wonderful sunset with only sea and surf visible through the French doors or, when the tide is out, exploring along the sandy and rocky shoreline. Almost all the guests so far have seen the sea otter and both seals and orcas are regularly sighted in the bay.
Your holiday could start with a scenic coastal journey from Inverness or travel direct by air from Aberdeen or Edinburgh to Wick (it is possible to leave London early in the morning and have morning coffee in the cottage!).
Once settled in, should you wish to venture further afield there is the Castle of Mey, a ferry to Orkney and a world class surfing beach at Thurso. Keen ornithologists will know this area has an absolute wealth of bird life. Those wishing to eat out will find a fine selection of places in which to dine including a gourmet French restaurant. Shopping facilities in the local town of Wick are excellent.
The adjacent ‘Boat House’, with its own separate front door and full facilities, can accommodate an additional two people in complete comfort — when the owner is not in residence here this part of the property can be rented at an additional rate of £150 per week.
